Letty Jones and Aunt Lizzie

Vancouver, British Columbia, ca. September 1903

While scouring the Vancouver City Archives, I came across this vintage photograph of two ladies seated on a bench. Compelled to give it some life, I colourized it, all the while creating stories about what they might have been chatting about!

Perhaps their conversation included some excitement over the new steel cable suspension bridge recently built over the Capilano Canyon to replace the older, rougher version. It would become the first commercial tourist attraction in North Vancouver.
